9月25日上午10点左右，由中铁十局承建的的青连铁路1标段完成了全线首片T梁的架设，标志着青连铁路的建设全面进入了一个新阶段。
新建青连铁路正线全长为194.39公里，总投资238亿元，建设标准为国铁I级，双线电气化，设计时速为200公里/小时，是以城际客运为主兼顾中长途旅客运输、客货并重的铁路干线。
建成后，全线输送货物能力为每年3500万吨，客车每天80对，拟开通时速200公里/小时的动车组列车。
